Devlog Update 1 ✨

Hey Everyone! 

We've been working hard on this update for Archives of Remembrance since the initial release (45 days ago!) and are excited to show it off to everyone! There are plenty of changes that have been added (Over 300 commits by our team!).

Here is a brief summary of the changes to expect with the new version.

Gameplay Enhancements ⚔️

  • Better Movement: We've made character movement more responsive and weighty, making gameplay feel tighter and more engaging.
  • Combat Improvements: Added screen shake and hitstop effects to make hits feel more impactful and satisfying.
  • Inventory System: This new system to use/buy/sell items. Try them out to enhance your character's abilities.
  • Better Controller / KBM Support: The entire input system has been rebuilt from the ground up. All menus and gameplay are fully compatibly with KBM and Controllers. With real-time input & icon swapping at a push of a button or key! 

Visual and Audio Improvements 🎶

  • Stunning Effects: Special attacks now have amazing visual effects, like the twirling, exploding stars, electricity! Character Animations: New unique animations for jumping and attacking, bringing more life to their movements.
  • Enhanced Sound: All character abilities, attacks, and dashes now have sound effects, making the game sound as good as it looks.

UI Improvements 👀

  • Revamped Menus: We've improved the user interface for better navigation and usability, including updated settings menus, inventory, etc. 
  • Notification System: The new notification system will show you what items, experience and gold you obtain.
  • Tutorials Screen: New tutorial panel will guide you through the game mechanics, making it easier to learn and enjoy.
  • New Dialogue Features: We've revamped the dialogue system! Now, you can make choices during conversations!

Boss and Enemy Updates ☠️

  • Boss Fight Enhancements: Boss fights are more dynamic and challenging with new phases, attacks, and specialized features.
  • Smarter Enemies: Enemy behavior has been improved for a more challenging and engaging experience.

What's Next? 🔮

Currently the game is more like a tech demo of sorts more than a fleshed out gaming experience. Now that all the main functionality of the game is implemented the focus on future updates would be to take everything we built and use it to flesh out the games main story and levels.

  • 3D Artists for both environmental assets and character models
  • Audio Specialist - Music + Sound Effects. Someone capable of knowing what sounds good, able to create/compose but also knows how to utilize free/off-the-shelf resources to save time.
  • Level Designer - Someone that knows how to make beautiful environments in Unreal Engine

Unreal Engine knowledge not required as we can teach 😎
